The OG who first opened Five Star Hainanese Chicken Rice in Shanghai is bringing back his famous poached chicken, serving it at Lost Bistro. On the menu are two birds: Hainanese chicken rice and a French-style roast.

Lost Bistro is located on the ground floor of Lost Heaven on Gaoyou Lu and was shares the space with Lost Bakery. In the kitchen is Singaporean chef Xander Ang, the guy who opened the first Five Star Hainanese Chicken Rice in 2014 on Jiaozhou Lu. It was possibly the best Hainanese chicken at the time. Now he’s putting it back on the menu, and it tastes just like home.

The menu at Lost Bistro is straightforward: Ultra-tender poached chicken and an equally juicy whole-roasted bird with sides to match. It’s tasty, affordable, every day food.

One day’s worth of food

Meal plans like these are especially convenient if you’re on a vegan diet but don’t have time to prepare your meals. As a meat eater, meal plans like these are not for me, but I can say that some of the items were quite tasty, like the sandwich and power bowl.

Chili Con Carne rice with roasted peppers, charred vegan cheese, and greens. Only available in the meal plan.

Some of the meal plan items are also available a la carte for delivery and in-store:
