Crystyl Mo will give a talk at the Bellagio Shanghai on October 7, providing a global perspective on how chefs and restaurants are pushing social, cultural and environmental issues.

Mo hopes to spark dialogue through sharing stories of chefs tackling challenging issues, from leveling gender equality to reducing food waste and saving biodiversity.

Mo is highly regarded in the Shanghai F&B scene and beyond. She’s worked in food media in Shanghai for 15 years as an editor, consultant and TV host. She’s covered food and travel for Conde Nast Traveler, Food & Wine and Travel + Leisure, and was the founding food editor of Time Out Shanghai., and is also partner and strategic advisor at dining and lifestyle platform Bon App. She’s also the Academy Chair, China & Korea for the World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

Mo has recently given talks at naked Hub Shanghai, W Suzhou, and Blue Hill at Stone Barns in New York. She recently returned from a trip covering Rene Redzepi’s MAD Symposium in Copenhagen, superstar chef Ana Ros’ breakout restaurant Hisa Franko in Slovenia, and Vladimir Muhkin’s White Rabbit in Moscow.

The Shanghai Gastronomy Club and Mo plan to collaborate on a range of cultural events to benefit the F&B community. Club founder Yannick Lequellenec says his goal is to help “enrich the discourse on diverse issues, catering to everyone in the field, including chefs, service staff, entrepreneurs, restaurants and hotels, suppliers and farmers.”
