Italo Trattoria has just launched a new winter menu, and it’s pretty amazing. There’s a spaghetti cooked in a wheel of pecorino cheese topped with truffle, and a steak drenched in spicy gorgonzola sauce. That’s my kind of winter comfort food.

Winter Dishes at Italo Trattoria
I’m a big fan of what chef Lucky Lasagna has done at Italo Trattoria. It’s hearty, casual Italian comfort food of sauce loaded pastas, simple and tasty carpacci, fluffy pizza breads, and perfectly seared steaks. Chef Lucky has added some new winter dishes, and they’re all delicious.
Here’s what to expect:
Spaghetti al Tartufo (¥298) – Spaghetti cooked in a pecorino cheese wheel topped with truffle. I mean, c’mon. If this doesn’t get your juices flowing, I don’t know what will. It’s a hefty portion—150g of pasta. Good for 2-3 people to share with other dishes. It’s a showy dish. A wheel of pecorino cheese is flambéed table-side.Spaghetti is added in, tossed around with the heated cheese. Then plated with shavings of truffle and a little more pecorino.Maltagliati Brodetto (¥68) – A light yet flavorful seafood soup with poached squid, rough cut fresh pasta, and chickpeas. Truly comforting.Lasagna Tradizionale (¥118) – Chunky wagyu beef ragu with freshly made spinach lasagna. Lucky Lasagna takes his lasagna seriously, and ensures that all of his lasagnas made fresh on the day and are never frozen. Fun fact: Traditionally, lasagnas were topped with an additional sheet of pasta. (Tin foil didn’t exist back then to prevent burning.) A crisp piece of pasta is placed atop the lasagna as an ode to those times.Filetto al Gorgonzola (¥328) – A 200g medium rare grain-fed fillet mignon drenched in spicy gorgonzola and shiitake sauce with mushrooms. Excellent, great to share.Pollo Arrosto (¥218) – A half portion of free-range chicken marinated overnight with mustard, served with smashed baby potatoes and radicchio. Salty, crispy skinned chicken that’s tender and juicy. They use “longgang” yellow chicken, a famous breed from Guangdong that’s prized for its layer of fat under the skin, which preserves the juiciness of the meat. Also excellent.Funghi al Balsamico (¥48) – Mushrooms sautéed with balsamic.Tiramisu (¥68) – A massive scoop of traditional, moist tiramisu with just a hint of coffee liqueur.
There are also new winter cocktails at Bar Sbagliato, Italo Trattoria’s cocktail bar, headed by group bar manager Ilya Gorshkov.
Sangreal (¥78) – Montenegro, red wine, red wine, cordial, and grappa foam, inspired by Dante’s Inferno. A light and smooth drink. I like this a lot.Sbagliato Forte (¥68) – Campari, vermouth, graprefruit cordial, and prosecco. Half-spritz, half-negroni.
