Heritage by Madison is one of my favorite new openings this year. And they’ve just launched brunch!
The brunch is self-described by chef/owner Austin Hu as “80’s era dim sum carts meets New York brunch without boundaries”. He’s doing his East-meets-West thing again, in a fashion that only he can pull off.
Brunch at Heritage by Madison
Brunch at Heritage is where eggs Benedicts come served in dim sum steamer baskets, noodles are a staple, and sandwiches reign supreme. Cold dishes are carted around the restaurant in food trolleys alongside a drinks cart of bocktails and champagne.
Drinks are wheeled around on the trolley—bottled juices (¥60), cocktails, and cold brew coffee (¥32).
Bloody Mary #1 (¥84) – Made with vodka, green tomato, and house spices. It’s roughly 1.5 servings. Spicy.
Deviled Tea Eggs (¥48) – Three pieces of deviled eggs topped with sesame, scallion, seaweed, and quinoa.Cheddar Scallion Biscuits (¥48) – Served with an addictive tart and mildly spicy chili garlic jelly and Laoganma butter. Definitely taking some to-go on my next visit.Autumn Porridge (¥98) – Barley, wild rice, oats, kale, and lobster. It’s comfort food and very filling.Morning Udon (¥98) – A favorite. Thick udon noodles graced with sous vide egg, house bacon, cracked pepper, and truffle pecorino cheese.XO Poached Eggs (¥58) – Poached egg on a house muffin with trotter croquette and XO hollandaise sauce. It’s for any self-respecting brunch-goer.Smoked Whitefish Salad (¥168) – Topped with caviar and served with crudité and deep-fried potato skins.Hot Chicken Waffle Sandwich (¥58) – Some like saving the best for last, but I suggest eating this early in your meal to fully appreciate the awesomeness that is this sandwich. Crunchy fried chicken with chili oil, avocado mousse, and pickled onion sandwiched between sesame-speckled waffles. Pineapple Cake (¥88) – Two sliders of foie gras butter and bacon bourbon jam.Soft Omelette (¥88) – Arctic shrimp, chorizo, and chervil rolled into a fluffy omelette and blanketed in sauce.Kimchi Pork Belly Hash (¥68) – Served with saffron aioli and kimchi crisps. Highly recommended.Crispy Hash Brown (¥58) – Crème fraiche and scallion apple purée.Uni Egg Custard (¥148) – Splendidly superfluous. For those who just wake up and go: “I’ll have sea urchin for breakfast, thanks.” Fluffy and creamy egg custard, umami-rich uni, puffed rice, cauliflower, and smoked salmon roe.
I would most certainly recommend trying the brunch at Heritage by Madison.
