Whisk(e)y Wednesdays at The Cannery is all about marrying whiskeys with slow-smoked Uruguayan M5 prime rib.

There are three ways to enjoy this: a happy hour that comes with free sliders, buying a bottle to get a complimentary platter, or either whisky or prime rib a la carte.

#1 Happy Hour

First off, happy hour is from 5pm to 7pm. During these two hours, you can order any of the selected whiskey-based cocktails and get a free prime rib slider.

Doesn’t matter how many cocktails you order, a slider will come with it unless you say otherwise. Cocktails start from ¥88. It’s a pretty dope deal. Cocktails include classic old fashioneds, specialty old fashioneds (ones made with peanut butter and dulce de leche washed whiskeys), manhattans, sours, and more.

Alternatively, you can also order a board of three sliders for ¥98.

#2 Buy a Bottle – Free Prime Rib !

If you’re a fan of whiskey, buy a selected bottle and get complimentary prime rib platter.

The whiskey selection at The Cannery features a huge selection of drams, more than 100 labels from all origins, spanning Scottish, Irish, Canadian, USA, and others.

Bottles start from ¥988. Great if you have a large group to split the bottle, or if you’re a Cannery regular who wants to save the bottle for keepsakes at the bar.

#3 A la Carte

The platter comes with 500g of UYYU Uruguayan M4-5 wagyu smoked prime rib, four soft buns, pickles, jalapeño coleslaw, and delicious jus. The meat is usually cut thin for you to build your own sandwiches, but you can also request it as a steak cut! If you’re not a whiskey drinker, no problem. The platter is ¥588 a la carte.

Alternatively, you can also order a single smoked prime rib sandwich for ¥188. That’s 150g of meat in a bun, served with slaw, pickles, and a big bowl of beef jus.

The best way to eat it is as you would a French Dip—dunk the sandwich into the jus to soak up all that flavor. (This is my preferred method of enjoyment.)

Really, you need to mop up all that delicious jus.

The happy hour is excellent, especially if you don’t want to commit to a full bottle or platter. However, the “buy a bottle and get a platter free”, is a fantastic deal. A three-way split takes you to ¥330 per person with a sandwich each and drinks for the evening.
