The Ritz Bar & Lounge at The Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai celebrates its 5th anniversary on Friday, September 17.
To celebrate the occasion, they’re making a big night of it with dark circus performances, new cocktails, and guest bartenders.

The Ritz Bar & Lounge | 5th Anniversary
The Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai have invited performance troupe La Lune Noire for a “cirque sombre” evening of entertainment.
The actors and performers will be roaming around the bar, acting out four 15-minute performances. Expect dark carnival aesthetic combined with circus acts, a touch of sensuality, and a bit of magic! Unusual for a hotel, but hey! That’s showbiz. Performances will start after 9:30pm.
The bar will also launch its new signature cocktail menu, A Sip of the Orient, on the same night.
Developed by Beverage Director Tural Hasanov and the mixologist team, the menu is inspired by Chinese culture, and is dedicated to the eight renowned cuisines, namely Lǔ (鲁), Huī (徽), Chuān (川), Xiāng (湘), Yuè (粤), Mǐn (闽), Zhè (浙), and Sū (苏). These cocktails start from ¥138.
Tural Hasanov is a bit of a scientist and an artist when it comes to creating cocktails. He has a tendency for flair, precision, and balance. He’s also a very animated bartender, and will talk your ear off if you ask him nerdy questions about cocktails.
The event will also host guest bartenders from Tanqueray, Sam Wang and Rainbow Deng, both from Shenzhen.
They will be shaking up drinks at the newly-installed Tanqueray bar in the Hidden Bar area of The Ritz Bar & Lounge. These are two seasoned bartenders who have been judges and winners for numerous competitions, including Cointreau Queens, Fabbri Lady Amarena, and Bacardi Legacy.
