Lai Lai Lai Thai Restaurant (Jiashan Road)

Lai Lai Lai is a Thai restaurant on Jiashan Road in Shanghai, known for its bold pork larb, whole roasted fish, and glazed pork ribs. This second location, triple the size of the original, trades in big, sharing-format dishes and elevated takes on Thai classics — including a 24-spice pork rib rack and a stir-fried clam dish built on a sauce so complex and delish I’d totally buy it by the bottle. The eclectic, sunken dining room, set inside an old lane house, channels Chiang Mai as much as Shanghai, right down to the Thai rock soundtrack, handmade duct-tape signage, and a shelf of old Thai cookbooks. Come for the ribs, stay for the clams, don’t skip the coconut sweet potato cake.
