Lin Long Fang (麟笼坊) is a second-generation operated xiao long bao shop in Shanghai, serving pleated, mate-to-order soup dumplings for the last two decades. Two locations — Zhapu Lu in Hongkou, its more prominent branch, and a quieter spot on Xuanhua Lu in Changning — after its original Jianguo Lu location in Xuhui closed due to the pandemic. It’s often mentioned in the same breath as Jia Jia Tang Bao, thanks to their similarly thin and delicate wrappers, though no official link has been confirmed either way.
Xiaolongbao are served a dozen to a basket: pork (¥20), pork-crab (¥38), and pure crab roe (¥55 for half a dozen), plus a mixed “Family Feast” (全家福, ¥35) combining pork, salted egg-pork, and crab-pork — a good way to sample the range in one sitting. The pork is straightforwardly porky, the pork-crab well-balanced, and the salted egg yolk distinctly gritty and savory. Shredded ginger in vinegar is available for dipping at ¥2 extra, though the house vinegar leans sweet. The menu also covers other Shanghainese staples — scallion oil noodles (¥9), noodles with pork and pickled mustard greens (¥15), and dumpling soup — making it a solid neighborhood stop beyond just xiaolongbao.
