Verdant, a Taiwanese fusion bistro in Shanghai

Verdant

Tucked into a lane on Wuxing Lu in Xuhui, Shanghai, Verdant is a Taiwanese fusion bistro that turns street food staples into shareable small plates. The space shifts from daytime brunch spot to evening hideaway, serving dishes like oyster omelet, wild jiaobai shoots, and taro duck broth rice. Behind the menu is Chef Dante, a Taipei native who cut his teeth at acclaimed restaurants Frantzén and Enigma. Some dishes miss, but the hits — like the jiaobai shoot salad and poached rice — make it worth a visit. For drinks, there are signature cocktails and creative mocktails, as well as a small but well-curated wine list.
