Bau Bros – Buns of Fun
The baus are made in-house and come stacked like little sandwiches with fillings of confit duck leg, crunchy pork belly, wild mushroom and tofu, chicken, and salted black cod.
They might appear petite, but they really do fill you up. I’d say two baus for lunch is conservative, three might do you in.
Here are three favorites:
Soy-glazed beef cheek with green chili and mint dressing. Favorite of the three. The chilies aren’t very potent in spiciness, but are instead fragrant and goes well with the beef.
Salted black cod with truffle, black garlic, pickled ginger flowers. Umami-packed! The addition of black garlic wins all the points.
Mushroom tofu patty and wild confit mushrooms. Surprisingly, I liked the mushroom tofu more than the chicken! It’s a house-made mushroom-tofu patty topped with more mushrooms. Lovely texture.
And they’re inexpensive—¥50 for two, ¥88 for four.
You can also get some bocktails and wines via delivery.
