It’s real simple: The Cannery is doing a killer surf and turf deal throughout March, available during dinner.

On offer is a combo of steak and seafood for ¥398, originally priced at ¥856. (That’s more than 50% off.)

The steak is a 500g UYYU Uruguayan M5 Rib-Eye, a gloriously marbled piece of meat that’s pan-seared and torched to perfection. Full flavored and beefy, served medium or medium rare.

Seafood options include either three French oysters, a gigantic king crab leg (150g), or a grilled carabinero prawn of the highest quality.

Plump French oysters are freshly shucked and served over ice with a lemon wedge.

The carabinero prawn is butterflied, brushed with butter and sprinkled with salt, then cooked on grill, finished with a crack of black pepper. It’s a fantastic product with tender, fleshy meat and bright orange unctuous roe, imbued with a hint of smokiness from the grill. It’s tastes like all the flavors of the sea concentrated into one bite.

Then, there’s the king crab leg, gently steamed with sake, then brushed with butter and sprinkled with salt. It’s an impressive length of meat that’s densely packed into the shell. It’s sinful and satisfying, and is something that I’d rather not share.

The execution of the steak and seafood is really a back to basics take. Nothing fancy being done, and nothing fancy really required when it comes to high quality products like these. Straightforward, simple, and delicious.

Starters & Sides

One combo is certainly enough for two to share as an entrée with a couple of starters or side dishes. Recommend the jumbo shrimp cocktail, San Francisco cioppino or the wild mushroom risotto to pair. Double up on Thursdays with The Cannery’s UNCORKED promo, half price wines by the bottle.
