Hanro Shanghai is an upscale Korean barbecue restaurant in Xuhui, founded by Chef Tom Ryu of NABI. The concept centers on elevated Korean barbecue, favoring high-quality dry-aged and wet-aged wagyu and black pork over the traditional heavily seasoned approach, grilled over binchotan, served alongside fantastic banchan. Hanro also boasts one of Shanghai’s largest selections of Korean sool and champagne. As for the space, it’s a dark, minimalist dining room thumping with energy, filled with Korean-speaking patrons and a well-heeled crowd.
