Pepper Tree

Pepper Tree (花椒树) is a modern Chinese restaurant in Shanghai from Chef Ling, blending Chinese spices and fermented ingredients with a confident Western hand. The space sits somewhere between a family banquet room and a posh bistro — warm and welcoming, but with enough drama from high ceilings, plush upholstery, and grand chandeliers to remind you this place is made for special occasions. Two private rooms are available for six and ten guests, elegant and a bit more subdued than the main dining room.

Dishes include century egg with salmon roe, smoked amberjack, pork trotter blanketed in black truffle, and a deeply satisfying cured pork rice. Off-menu specials change with the seasons.
