Kappo Yu

Category

Kappo Yu (鮨割烹·遊) is a long standing omakase restaurant that does a solid kaiseki set menu, a mix of sushi and cooked dishes. It’s a small restaurant with a bright red counter that snakes around the chef prep area. Projections play on loop on the wall behind the bar, depicting scenes developed by founder Hirano Naoya. There are a couple booth seats and private rooms, too. Vibe is chill. It opened in 2010 as a sister restaurant to famed Sushi Oyama (now closed). Kappo Yu has had a few chefs at the helm, but most recently it has been Niu-San, accompanied by Sun-San of Ochiyo, who often stops by to check up on food quality and menu development. As of 2024, dinner is ¥1,100 per person, lunch ¥698.
