Cages is now serving BBQ on Saturdays from 12pm until sold out, during which time they also serve a monster of a “sandwich” called The Beefzilla, 800 grams of meat between toast.
Cages Shanghai For American-Style BBQ
Get all of your favorite American-style barbecue meats including beef brisket, pastrami, brisket ends, smoked sausages, pulle dpork shoulder, short rib, baby back pork ribs, and smoked chicken. (BBQ was previously available on Thursdays.)
All the requisite sides available, too, including mac & cheese, Southern-style potato salad, coleslaw, kale and mango salad, and baked beans, but also jalapeño corn bread with honey butter — yum! Everything is available a la carte or as a combo of two meats (¥138) or three (¥188).
I highly recommend getting the Pit Master Platter (¥588), which comes with a selection of six smoked meats and all sides. It’s a hefty tray, good for 4 people to share.
The Beefzilla
The Beefzilla is part of the BBQ menu.
It’s a beast of a sandwich that’s give or take 800 grams total of bone-in short rib, smoked beef brisket, two beef patties, cheddar cheese, and secret sauce loaded between Texas toast. Monstrosity or marketing genius? Try it and decide for yourself!
Things turn sloppy with this “sandwich” pretty quick, so once you’ve tried tackling it—with gloves, I implore you—there’s no shame in switching to a fork and knife.
