Cheers Burger burst onto the scene when it opened late last year and gained popularity via super wanghong energy on Xiaohongshu. The lines have calmed a bit, though weekends can still get busy.

It’s a small shop serving just burgers on Changshu Lu in Xuhui district. There’s zero seating, so you do what most people do: squat street side or use your scooter and pretend you’re at a drive-in.

They have two classics, cheese burger (¥55/single, ¥85/double) and bacon cheese (¥65/¥95). Another six burgers are what you’d call creative, taking on flavor profiles and inspirations from food destinations like Hanoi, Mexico City, and Yunnan.

Double Cheese Burger (¥85) – Two beef patties, cheddar cheese, tomato, lettuce, onion, CB secret sauce.

Yunnan (¥65/¥95) – Beef patty, cheddar cheese, Shiping tofu (石屏豆腐), fried mint leaves, CB Yunnan sauce.

Dong Bei (¥65/¥95) – Beef patty, cheddar cheese, eggplant with mashed potato, lettuce, green peppers, soybean sauce.

The burgers were mostly good, namely the double cheeseburger, which was a solid 8/10 for me. Hit and miss for the other signatures—the Yunnan one was delicious, but the Dongbei one fell flat. All in all, a good burger joint if you’re passing through or live nearby.

Kudos for them grinding their own beef for the patties, but not so great was the assembly, as they put lettuce and tomato at the base, which gets “cooked” by the patty on top. The fries are below average.

They do sets, any burger plus ¥28 for fries and a Coke or cold brew. Plus, you can substitute patties with BeyondMeat.

Worth It?

Is it worth the queue? I’d say no. But then again, depending on when you go, you might not even find a queue at all, which is what I encountered. Solid burger for the neighborhood, but not necessarily one that you need to go out of the way for.
