Sichuan Citizen is a Chinese restaurant that specializes in Sichuan cuisine, located in the former French Concession of Shanghai. It is a beloved institution amongst expatriates and tourists for its chic and modern interiors and approachable menu. Some Sichuan cuisine fanatics argue that the food has been adjusted to suit the foreign palate. I’m inclined to agree but only for some dishes. The Fish in Hot Oil (水煮鱼) is pretty good. Famous also for their Basil Smash cocktail.
