Bar A Vin is a cozy wine bar and restaurant on Jiashan Road. The space is unique, spread across two floors of an old narrow lane house. Lots of wood, tiny tables packed tightly, and dim sultry lighting.

The menu du jour is written on a chalkboard. It’s very French with a peppering of Asian and Mediterranean influence. Expect dishes like braised frog, slow-cooked beef tongue, truffle pasta, pan-fried scallops, and wine boards of cold cuts and cheese, but also mentaiko mochi, gyoza, and marinated pig ears. Food is pretty looking and pretty tasty. Wine collection is traditional and leans French, but really, they stock a bit of everything.
