Chinese New Year Buffet

For Chinese New Year, The St. Regis Brasserie has upgraded their buffet offerings to include a number of lucky foods and seasonal Chinese dishes, as well as all-you-can-eat individual hotpot with M9 wagyu and lamb from Inner Mongolia.

And that’s all in addition to their international spread of cheese, cold cuts, steak carvery and grilled items, fresh sashimi, and other hot & cold dishes.
Chinese New Year’s Eve

On February 16, Chinese New Year’s Eve, the buffet will feature a luxurious spread to celebrate the most significant day of the lunar year.
Special dishes include stewed sea cucumber, roasted live lobster with cheese, a station for marinated salmon, Chaoshan-style braised goose with abalone, suckling pig, and poached grouper.

There will be freshly shucked oysters, chilled seafood of snow crab legs, shrimp, baby abalone, and fresh big-eye tuna. Add to that a carving station for grilled M9 wagyu beef.

Celebration Dishes

The buffet will also feature a number of celebration dishes, or lucky foods. Because when it comes to Chinese New Year, there’s plenty of symbolism involved in what you eat.
You’ve probably heard that eating fish is a must, and that’s because it’s driven by a meaningful pun — a lucky homophone.

The word for fish, 鱼 (yú), sounds just like the word for surplus, 余 (yú). That’s why the popular blessing “年年有余” (nián nián yǒu yú) — meaning “surplus every year” — is expressed through this delicious tradition. But the symbolism doesn’t stop there.

Dishes like prawns carry their own meaning, representing “有头有尾” (yǒu tóu yǒu wěi) or “having a head and a tail” — a wish to see things through from start to finish. There are dozens of these idioms and likened sayings.

That said, these dishes will be part of the CNY buffet feast, including roasted duck, braised “Snowflake Beef”, steamed hairtail fish, deep-sea perch, yan du xian, and more.
All-You-Can-Eat (Luxe) Hotpot
With the winter season comes hotpot, which is also new on the buffet, available for lunch and dinner.

That means you can have all-you-can-eat premium hotpot for just ¥238 during lunch with the Nomfluence Readers Deal — details below.

Two broths are available, a numb-and-spicy Chongqing-style and a clear bone broth, served as individual pots. The highlights are M9 Australian wagyu beef and lamb from Inner Mongolia — both of superb quality.

It also includes vegetables, tofu, seafood, duck blood (for fanatics), and a selection of sauces.
Valentine’s Day
On Valentine’s Day, February 14, the buffet will include pass around poached Boston lobster and Beef Wellington and grilled prawns. There will also be fresh sashimi, a marinated salmon station, grilled M9 wagyu beef, and Chinese New Year specials.

Note: Certain dishes like Chinese New Year specials are only available on selected dates during the festive season.
The regular lunch buffet, which is available daily, includes a selection seafood on ice, fresh sashimi and sushi, a salad bar, premium hotpot, cold cuts and cheese, Cantonese-style roasts, a carving station, Chinese dim sum, Western and Chinese hot dishes, dessert, fruit, and ice cream.
