About Artyzen NEW BUND 31 Shanghai
Artyzen NEW BUND 31 Shanghai opened late last year. It’s located in a in a new cultural hub, NEW BUND 31, a destination in Pudong that is also home to the Performing Arts Center, and is a stone’s throw away from Taikoo Li Qiantan, NYU Shanghai, and the Oriental Sports Centre.
Designed by world-renowned Neri&Hu Design and Research Office, the hotel boasts an iconic design aesthetic of contemporary features. Elegant monolithic volumes in grey, gold lattice work, and hues of blue, pink, and green compliment the hotel’s custom-made wooden furniture.
The hotel has 202 guest rooms and suites, a gym, and and a couple meeting and event spaces, including Cube, a 90sqm glass room, and Circle, a 120sqm rotunda hall adjacent to two private rooms and a working show kitchen and bar.
Shanghai Modern Restaurant | Lounge | Tapas Bar
Shanghai Modern, the hotel’s one-and-only signature dining venue is split into three concepts, Restaurant, Lounge, and Tapas Bar, all with adjoining terraces that wrap around the fifth floor (L lobby level).
Connected to the restaurant is Secret Garden, a canopy draped room surrounded by lush greenery, also where afternoon tea is served.
The Lounge serves freshly baked pastries and a selection of teas, coffees, juices, and other drinks. Meanwhile, Shanghai Modern Tapas Bar complements its sister establishment with a casual yet vibrant space.
Terraces abound! Spacious outdoor terraces wrap around the entire floor, accessible from Shanghai Modern. There are even intimate pockets of terrace seating by the reception area and hallway — the most inviting highlight of the hotel.

Shanghai Modern Restaurant — Set Menus
Shanghai Modern Restaurant, in addition to their on-going lunch deal, ¥128 for a salad bar and one main course, the restaurant also has a set menu deal.
The seasonal seven-course menu for two share is now priced at ¥688, originally ¥888. The deal will run from May 1 until June 30, available for lunch and dinner.

Here’s what to expect:
The meal starts off strong with a truffle carpaccio with pickled shimeji mushrooms, and parmesan cheese crackers for umami.
The fish is dry-aged, resulting in a tighter, more meaty texture, emphasizing its natural sweetness. It’s paired with a Thai-style sauce, an aromatic tomato-based curry that is mildly spicy, and grilled zucchini.
The set has an irresistible risotto that is oh-so cheesy! You can really taste the generous amount of parmesan cheese in this dish, enlivened by fava beans and purée and a nice glug of high quality grassy extra virgin olive oil. Extra points for being a properly al dente risotto. A favorite from the menu.
Shanghai Modern Tapas Bar
Shanghai Modern Tapas Bar has two promotions, a great value tapas set for ¥458, available all-day, and a new daily happy hour — buy-one-get-one drinks from 5pm until close. These two deals will run from May 6 to June 30.
The Tapas Set is ¥458 to share (originally priced at ¥658), and includes six tapas from the menu as well as two glasses of wine. If you live nearby, pop in for the set and to enjoy the spacious terrace as the sun sets.
The set includes a combination of traditional tapas and cold cuts, as well as Asian-inspired bites like crudo and a fried chicken guabao.
This crudo wouldn’t be my first choice when it comes to drinking tapas, but it certainly surprised! Fresh marinated sashimi cuts of yellowtail dabbed with a mildly sweet soy sauce and topped with pickled mustard seeds.
If the set doesn’t suffice, there’s always the buy-one-get-one happy hour, which runs from 8pm to 10pm daily from May 6 to June 30. Deal applies to selected cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic drinks.
