Butanchu Ramen

Butanchu Ramen (京都一乘寺拉面豚人) is a cult ramen shop specializing in Hakata-style ramen, the really thick and porky style of broth. A bar counter and a couple stray tables squeeze into this small shop, located down an alley of warehouse-style blocks. There is always a queue — rain or shine. The broth is, well, extremely rich and porky. It’s so thick it could be a sauce. Delicious, but might be too rich for some. If you’re hurting for some no-frills authentic Hakata-style ramen, this is it. Be prepared to queue, and if you arrive too late, they do sell out.
