Some news worth sharing: Holy Bagel, a Shanghai homegrown bagel brand, is opening its first downtown location in Xintiandi.
A Slice of New York in Shanghai

Since launching in 2022, Holy Bagel has been on a mission to bring authentic New York-style bagels to Shanghai and beyond — hand-rolled, boiled, baked, and blissfully chewy.
Holy Bagel is the brainchild of a Chinese founder who spent years in North America, falling in love with the craft and culture of authentic bagels. Determined to bring the real deal to Shanghai, he insists on zero oil, low sugar, and no additives — just hand-rolled, boiled-then-baked New York-style bagels.

They have eight locations in Shanghai with a ninth on the way at the new CPIC Xintiandi Commercial Center, or Xintiandi Galleria for short, which is located opposite Hubindao mall. So when you need a “bagel break”, there’s always a location nearby.

The Bagels

Their menu boasts eight bagel flavors, from the original (¥14) to the classic Everything Bagel (¥16), which is sans poppy seeds, of course, to the more creative Valrhona Chocolate (¥22).

They have a whopping 16 bagel sandwiches, generously slathered with Philadelphia cream cheese and filled with everything from avocado & egg to pulled pork.

The Smoked Salmon is perhaps the most classic of bagel sandwiches. It’s stacked with smoked salmon, thinly sliced red onions, capers, tomato, spicy mayo, and cream cheese.

The Holy Hermes is a European-inspired stack made with Lyoner ham, arugula, pesto, red bell peppers, pesto, balsamic vinegar, and cream cheese.

Y’all know how much I love burgers, yeah? Well, the Double Smash is just that. Double beef smash patties, cheddar cheese, crispy onions, and burger sauce between a sesame bagel — it totally works.
Holy Bagel’s Xintiandi location officially opens on August 11.
