Sunday’s Modern Diner blends classic American diner food with a Japanese-Asian twist, located in Shanghai’s Jing’an district. It’s led by Shanghainese chef Chris Zhu, formerly of Blaz. The bright, cozy space in the Lee Gardens complex pairs marble tabletops and soft lighting with the welcoming vibe of a neighborhood eatery. Clean design and natural light make it ideal for brunch or casual lunches.

The menu reimagines comfort food with a lighter touch and subtle Japanese flavors. Egg sandwiches are coated with Japanese curry, furikake becomes the tasty topper, and miso makes its way into dessert. The Fish & Chips are excellent, too. Weekday coffee unlimited refills from 2:30pm to 5:30pm, starting from ¥38.
