The Jazz Bar (Fairmont Peace Hotel)
The Jazz Bar at the Fairmont Peace Hotel is a legendary destination on the Bund in Shanghai. It’s renowned for hosting the Old Jazz Band, an ensemble that holds the Guinness World Record for “The World’s Oldest Jazz Band.” Enter this 1920’s Art Deco monument and step back into time.
The band, which has an average age of 82, plays every evening from 7pm to 11:30pm. Senior as they may be, these musicians still carry the jive in their tune. Expect a style that blends Western jazz with Chinese folk and traditional music. The earlier sessions tends to be more mellow with nostalgic tunes while the second sessions offers a more upbeat setlist.
Entry is ¥418 per person, which may be used for food and drink, as in, a minimum spend.
