Oh! Brunch Club at The Shanghai EDITION
Shanghai Tavern has launched a new brunch with upgrades for steak, seafood platters, and free-flow. Packages aplenty to mix and match!
The entry level “A” package is ¥268. It includes one salad of choice, one egg dish (seven to choose from), a main course of roasted cod, a Shanghai Tavern signature dish, and a buffet of desserts. Plus, it also includes free-flow soft drinks.
The “B” option, ¥488, is steak-only with free-flow red and white wine. Choice of rib-eye, tenderloin, or sirloin (200g).
The best value package is “A+B” for ¥498, also including free-flow.
There’s also a seafood platter (C) for ¥388, six pieces of selected seafood including freshly shucked oysters, prawns, langoustine, king crab legs, abalone, and more. The big combo is A+B+C for ¥778.
Of the egg dishes, I highly recommend trying the BBQ Pulled Wagyu Beef Brisket Benedict. The pulled beef brisket is served soaking in a deliciously tangy barbecue sauce atop a waffle, served with watercress, homemade chips, and hollandaise. It’s juicy, savory and satisfying.
The Lobster Benedict is a luxurious option, served on an English muffin with choron sauce and fennel salad. There’s also a King Crab Omelette, made with fresh king crab and mayonnaise dressing, served with creamed corn, buttered sour dough, horseradish cream, and herbs.
The inclusive Roasted Cod was a pleasant surprise and surpassed expectations. It’s actually one of Shanghai Tavern’s signature dishes, and one that’s deserving of praise. The juicy and flavorful cod is roasted crispy, served with a heavenly combination of black garlic sauce and creamed miso sauce. The piperade, roasted bell peppers fried with shallots, ties everything together with a sweet-smoky profile.
Steak options include rib-eye, tenderloin or sirloin, 200 grams in total, meaning you could split the other into two steaks and share. Portions are carved to order, served with roasted broccolini and tomatoes. I prefer the rib-eye cut.
The brunch is in collaboration with Finnish design house Marimekko, and the dessert spread features creations inspired by the brand’s Unikko design line of porcelain tableware.
In addition to the unlimited spread, there’s also a white chocolate and coconut panna cotta.
To Drink
As for the free-flow option, the Tipsy Sips Club includes a curated selection of red and white wines. Choose from buttery chardonnays to full-bodied merlots.
