Looking for a laidback locale to rest on your laurels? Check out Terrace 8, a spacious downtown terrace in the heart of Jing’an, located on the eighth floor of The Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai.
The terrace boasts a panoramic view of Jing’an, a meticulously trimmed lawn complete with cushioned recliners and large canvas umbrellas. The sprawling rooftop is somewhat of an open secret, a little tricky to find, but worth the privacy it offers. Early evenings provide a quiet and relaxed respite.
On weekends, it tends to have more of a lounge atmosphere with a DJ on Fridays and Saturdays playing dreamy, shoe-gazey tunes for a chill, wind down evening.
The food menu is a fusion of barbecue and Mediterranean influences, ranging from aperitivo favorites of cold cuts and cheese to lamb kofta skewers, charred pork jowls, and beef sliders. It’s easy-going fare, a compliment to the locale.
Healthier bites like hummus, baba ganoush, and honey & chili roasted baby carrots are also available. Overall, it’s a well-rounded menu that satisfies those seeking comfort food as well as healthier snack options.
As for drinks, the bar is stocked with sparkling and champagne, red and white wines, cocktails, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages.
