About Laizhou Bar

Nestled along Fumin Lu’s bustling F&B row, Laizhou Bar occupies prime real estate in Shanghai’s competitive dining scene.

The venue sports cozy outdoor seating on its terrace and a dramatic interior space featuring high ceilings, ample seating, and private dining rooms.
New Sichuan Dishes

While keeping some of the previous favorites, the kitchen has expanded with heartier Sichuan-inspired dishes. New dishes dance between tradition and reinvention, featuring finger-licking good ribs to arancini laced with xuecai.

Start with the Sichuan Chilled Noodles (¥48). Cool, springy noodles are tossed in a punchy house-made chili oil with garlicky pork and crisp cucumber. It’s the kind of dish that wakes you up in the best way, delivering flavor and spice.

Technique meets tradition in the Sous Vide Chicken (¥68), where tightly rolled poultry emerges from its low-temperature bath impossibly tender, plated in a pool of aromatic chili oil.

For pure enjoyment, go for the Sichuan Spicy Pork Ribs (¥88). These meaty rib buried under a mountain of dried chilies and peanuts are perfect for gnawing straight off the bone. It has that addictive spice coating that will have you fighting for the last rib.

The Sour-Spicy Pork Tongue (¥78) is another standout, with tender yet crunchy tongue swimming in a tangy broth laden with pickled green chilis alongside mixed mushrooms and fried tofu skin. It’s an appetizing dish that’s best paired with rice for maximum satisfaction.

The modern twists are just as compelling. The Sichuan-Style Braised Beef Tendons (¥88) come in a tomato-based stew with rib meat and radish, served in a toasted bread bowl — comfort food with a creative twist.

The Crispy-Fried Bullfrog Legs (¥78) take things up a notch, tossed in a spicy-tangy sauce and a surprising sprinkle of parmesan.

Meanwhile, the Arancini Iberian Ham with Bamboo Shoots (¥58/three) is a clever mashup of Sichuan flavors and Italian bar food, stuffed with pickled greens and served with a rich beef ragu.

Desserts keep things interesting. The Jasmine Panna Cotta (¥18) is more pudding than custard, wobbly and delicate under a layer of matcha foam. It’s cool and light, not at all sweet, and will have you scraping the bottom of the cup in no time.

The Lily Bulb & Osmanthus (¥18) is a fragrant, creamy finish, sweetened lightly with honey and floral osmanthus oil.
About the whisky — Laizhou recently launched their own line of single malts, featuring five different casks from peated bourbon to sherry. These start from ¥68 by the glass and ¥580 for the bottle, the latter of which comes with a selected dish to pair.
