It doesn’t get much funkier than Shaoxing cuisin It doesn’t get much funkier than Shaoxing cuisine. I tried the infamous Thousand Layer Tofu, which was 100x stinkier than your usual fermented tofu. (I barely survived.)

Thankfully, Shaoxing cuisine offers more than just chou dou fu. Totally recommend the Braised Pork and the addictive Drunken Crab at Yue Ji. A wild and delicious ride!

Back at one of my favorite restaurants, Sage Gastr Back at one of my favorite restaurants, Sage Gastro, for the incredible “Memories” menu. 

Chef Jun’s food is always so creative and enjoyable, and this one — inspired by his childhood AND our trip to Penang— is truly special. Dishes with a story that are also utterly delicious.
