Nestled behind a velvet emerald-colored curtain is My Bar, an at-home intimate experience cocktail bar, led by Nariman Abdullayev, Director of Beverage and Head Mixologist at The Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai.

About Nariman Abdullayev

New talent Nariman Abdullayev, who joined the hotel in September this year, brings with him 15 years of professional experience in the art of mixology.

Nariman has had an illustrious career so far, previously working at luxury hotels in Dubai, including The Meydan Dubai (longest hotel in the world), Armani Hotel at the Burj Khalifa, and the world’s only 7-star hotel Burj Al Arab.

He was most recently with the renowned Zuma restaurant group, which took him to Dubai, Istanbul, Hong Kong, Phuket, and New York.

My Bar

The evening’s revelry and journey of discovery at My Bar is hosted by Nariman, who aspires to transform the space into a community-based bar by serving not only inventive cocktails but also an intimate at-home experience that is convivial and welcoming. Nariman’s goal is ultimately to create a classy yet comfortable neighborhood bar.

Speaking of the space, My Bar is tucked away within the confines of The Ritz Bar & Lounge, a vintage, 20th century-style study and library with an intimate dark wood bar.

The Cocktails

On the menu are 10 signature cocktails, each ¥127. My Bar also has three mocktails, ¥98 each.

Drinks take inspiration from the classics, which includes an old fashioned with a tropical spin and a paloma with a twist by way of chrysanthemum, while creative backstories highlight travel destination and local ingredients. The cocktails served are consistent and reliable, innovative and highly Instagrammable.

Cultural Surprise – A twist on the Negroni made with a parmesan cheese infusion with artichoke, presented in a Chinese teacup. This one surely raises some eyebrows, and purposefully so, flipping cultural norms on its head. Parmesan infused Tanqueray Gin with artichoke liqueur, sweet vermouth, and yellow Chartreuse.
Tropical Old Fashioned – Flavors of Thailand fused with a classic old fashioned, enriched with hints of mango sticky rice and creamy coconut milk. Base of mango-infused Bulleit bourbon with homemade old fashion syrup, and angostura bitters.

My Bar is open from Thursday to Saturday from 7am to 1am.
