Sandian (叁店) is a no-fuss Taiwanese eatery specializing in luroufan, located on Fumin Lu in Jing’an, right across from Lucky Mart.

Since opening late last year, it’s been drawing crowds — lines out the door are still common, but luckily, they serve all day. Skip the peak lunch and early dinner rush, and you’ll find it busy but not chaotic. Tables turn fast, and the vibe is like a speedy canteen.

The star? Luroufan — Taiwanese braised pork rice. The pork is diced just right, with a perfect balance of lean meat and melt-in-your-mouth fat. The pork is fragrant with the braising liquid of soy sauce and five-spice, and it leaves your lips sticky and happy. Two sizes available, small (¥13) or big (¥19), and sauce top up is available any time at no extra cost.

Other menu items are typical Taiwanese street foods and snacks. The cuttlefish sausage (¥28) is a standout — it’s smoky, slightly sweet, and savory, served with raw garlic and spring onion. The salt & pepper chicken (¥26) is crispy and well-seasoned, worth a try if you’re feeling snacky.

There’s doufuhua (¥20) for dessert. It’s a silky tofu pudding drizzled with sweet maltose syrup. It’s served chilled but not ice-cold, with chewy glutinous rice balls and sugar-roasted peanuts. It wasn’t my favorite, as it came off a bit like diabetes in a bowl.

Grab your own chopsticks, help yourself to filtered water, and dig in. The luroufan is the real draw here — simple, satisfying, and great value.
