Conrad Hotels & Resorts makes its Shanghai debut with Conrad Shanghai in People’s Square, boasting 728 rooms and four restaurants and bars. Here’s an inside look at the new hotel.

About Conrad Shanghai
Conrad Shanghai officially opened in January 2022. The hotel resides in a landmark building in People’s Square, stands at 66 floors tall and boasts unparalleled views of Nanjing Dong Lu, The Bund, and Lujiazui.
There are 728 spacious guest rooms, among which are 60 expansive luxury suites. In addition, there’s the Executive Lounge on the level 44, which boasts gorgeous Bund views.
Executive Lounge benefits include private check-in and check-out, personalized concierge service, and access to meeting rooms and work stations. It also includes all-day coffee, tea, soft drinks, and snacks, as well as complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails.
And I have to say that they’ve done a fantastic job on upgrading the room facilities and amenities. If you’re thinking of doing a staycation, I highly recommend the Premium Bund View Suite, which is perhaps the best value for affordable luxury, as rooms start from ¥2,600 per night.
If you want the tub minus the view, there’s also the Deluxe Suite, from ¥1,900 per night. (Room prices subject to change based on season; room prices listed are before tax.)
Hotel facilities also include an indoor heated swimming pool, fully-equipped fitness center, ballrooms, and meeting rooms.
Four Restaurants & Bars
As for food and drink outlets, The Conrad Shanghai has four restaurants and bars, including Copper French bistro and all-day café, all day dining Lane 11, contemporary Chinese restaurant Enclave Eight, and signature restaurant Asador Mediterranean Dining & Bar.
Located on the ground floor, Copper is a cozy European bistro and all day café complete with outdoor seating. Copper reopened its doors on June 29 and launched an all-new menu, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Breakfast at Copper includes dishes like croissants, eggs Benedict, and sandwiches, while lunch and dinner offers a Continental selection of mains like pastas and rice dishes. For drinks, there’s coffee and teas, as well as craft beer.
The stylish French Bistro Breakfast Set (¥88) is freshly-made every morning with passion for guests within the neighborhood. A simple and delicious French morning fare at its best, the set covers French croissants, Eggs Benedict, fresh fruits and freshly-brewed coffee or teas. The breakfast set is ¥88, available from 8am to 11:30am, and includes one dish and a cup of coffee or tea.
Lane 11 is Conrad Shanghai’s all day dining restaurant, where the buffet spread boasts 9 kitchens including a live chef showcase. There are a total of 118 dishes available in this sumptuous buffet.
The buffet offerings change seasonally, adding new Asian and Western dishes regularly in addition to salads, cheeses, cold cuts, dim sum, fresh baked breads, a carvery and grill, fresh premium seafood and sashimi, and more.
The buffet at Lane 11 will reopen this summer for lunch and dinner every Friday to Sunday, starting from ¥418 per person. It also includes soft drinks, juices, local beer, and house wine.
As for Chinese food, there’s Enclave Eight, which serves traditional Shanghainese cuisine. Executive Chinese Chef Mike introduced a new a la carte menu and chef month set menus this July. Enclave Eight also has some great deals on offer for lunch, 7 dishes for 2-3 people to share (¥218) or 9 dishes for 4-5 people (¥488); and dinner, 7 dishes (¥288) or 9 dishes (¥628). Signature dishes include Signature Appetizers, Shanghai Style Shrimps, Wok-Fried M6 Tenderloin with black pepper soya sauce.
Plus, Enclave Eight has an all-you-can-eat dim sum lunch, available daily for just ¥188, or ¥138 when you purchase via Conrad Shanghai’s WeChat eShop. It also includes free-flow soft drinks.
The hotel’s signature restaurant is Asador Mediterranean Dining & Bar, a traditional grill for steaks and entrées with Spanish and Mediterranean influence.
Asador boasts a breath-taking outdoor terrace complete with cabanas and a bar, plus a glasshouse dining area that’s shielded from adverse weather.
Asador is currently doing a special on paella, possibly the most iconic of Spanish dishes. Arborio rice cooked in a rich stock is topped with seafood of baby lobster, scallops, octopus, prawns, and mussels. The paella is ¥438 and is plenty for two to share.
The steaks at Asador are also excellent. The 1.3kg bone-in tomahawk (¥1,400) is an impressive display of expert grilling, and comes with a myriad of grilled vegetables. Overall, the food here is tasty and is excellent value for money.
Family Package
Conrad Shanghai now has a Family Package with rooms starting from ¥1,388 net per night from August 1 to November 30.
This family-inclusive package provides both entertainment and education for children with art workshops and interactive play, as well as a “food discovery” workshop. There will also be monthly themed creative activities every Saturday, inspired by famous artists, including Dali-esque jewelry design, Picasso dream camp, and more for children to explore their own creative journey.
The Family Package includes a one-night stay in an Executive Room with breakfast for two adults and one child, access to the Executive Lounge for afternoon tea, happy hour, etc., and weekend creative activities & food discovery workshops. It also includes access to the indoor pool, fitness center, sauna & steam rooms, and one free parking space per room per night.
