The Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai has just launched “Road to Rome,” a five-course Italian menu by Executive Sous Chef Davide Mastrangeli that showcases modern interpretations of age-old Roman dishes.

Road To Rome
The “Road to Rome” menu is served at The Ritz Bar & Lounge from Thursday to Saturday, at which time the oval-shaped bar transforms into a stage for Chef Davide to step in to deliver his ode to Roman cuisine.
In addition, the menu also has a cocktail pairing option, whereby each dish is served with a cocktail specifically designed for flavor matching, curated by resident mixologist Tural Hasanov.
It’s an intimate dining experience that’s completely new to The Ritz Bar, and for that matter, The Portman Ritz-Carlton. Guests will have the opportunity to interact with chef and mixologist.
On the menu is amuse bouche to start, Trio Maritozzi, three Italian sweet buns with savory fillings of eggplant parmigiana, mortadella, ricotta cheese, pistachio, wilted cod, chickpeas, and candied tomatoes.
The following starter is a tomato with yellow cherry tomato sauce, mozzarella mousse, and coated with tomato sauce.
The pasta dish is homemade gnocchi prepared “cacio e pepe” with just salt and pepper, served with fava bean pesto and artichoke chips.
For the main, it’s a Roman-style chicken. Roasted chicken served with potato pearls, roasted peppers, and Roman sauce.
And dessert, well, is a combination of two very famous Italian sweet endings, tiramisu and limoncello. The Tiramisu al Limoncello is served with red berries.
