At Beijing‘s Michelin-starred Giada Garden, Exec At Beijing‘s Michelin-starred Giada Garden, Executive Chef Cielo Liu @changliuchef begins a new culinary chapter.

His cooking is deeply rooted in Italian tradition, yet he holds a firm belief: the future of flavor knows no borders.

His Italian cuisine is a natural convergence of his Chinese heritage and Japanese culinary experience.

· Pasta aged with koji to boost umami
· Chinese yellow wine for aromatics
· And a ravioli inspired by a xiaolongbao.

This is Cielo Liu, and the latest menu at Giada Garden.

Proper bahn mi! Yep. In Shanghai. Feral Bahn Mi Proper bahn mi! Yep. In Shanghai.

Feral Bahn Mi

• Started out back in May as a pop-up street cart (totally illegal, totally gangsta) that roamed Shanghai. Now it has found a brick n mortar on Maoming Bei Lu.

🥖 The bread is... THE RIGHT KIND. You usually don’t find this in Shanghai. The bread has an extremely thin, brittle crust, shattering at a bite. And the crumb is soft, airy, and cotton-like — it’s like biting through a hard meringue.

To order: Lemongrass chicken & crispy pork belly. Sauces are dope too, I favor the “buttery fruit chili sauce”.

I rarely recommend vegetarian restaurants, but thi I rarely recommend vegetarian restaurants, but this one is worth shouting about!

Salt-Less 淡盐

A creative restaurant in Shanghai’s Jing’an district that will change your perception about how tasty vegetarian food can be. As a carnivore, it really did impress. And contrary to its name, the food here is plenty flavorful.

Also, if you’re allergic to shellfish, they do a vegetarian version of crab roe noodles that comes pretty close to the real thing. Great if you want to see what all the fuss is about.
