Officially titled the “Michelin Guide Shanghai | Jiangsu | Zhejiang 2026,” this marks the first time the guide has combined all three regions into a single edition.

For Shanghai, there is 1 restaurant in the three-star category, 12 restaurants in the two-star category, and 38 restaurants in the one-star category. Both one-star and two-star categories features three new entries each.

For Bib Gourmands awarded restaurants in Shanghai, there are 35 restaurants, eight of which are new.

Three Stars

Taian Table retains its three-star status for the fifth consecutive year. It is also the only Michelin three-star restaurant in Shanghai.

Former three-star restaurant Ultraviolet by Paul Pairet, which closed in November last year, was removed from the list.

Two Stars

New in the two-star category is Amazing Chinese Cuisine (菁禧会), a Chaozhou restaurant that previously held one star.

Also moving up is Cantonese restaurant T’ang Court (唐阁), which received three stars in the Michelin Guide Shanghai’s inaugural year, and contemporary Chinese restaurant Tou Zao (头灶).

One Star

Three new restaurants were awarded in the one-star category in the Michelin Guide Shanghai 2026.

Fabula — Contemporary Cantonese & Ningbo Cuisine

A pleasant surprise for the one-star restaurants category in Shanghai is Fabula, a fine dining restaurant in Jing’an that blends Cantonese and Ningbo heritage with a foundation in European culinary technique.

Fabula is led by Zee Zheng (a former sous chef of Taian Table), Charles Tan, and Ricky. Zee Zheng also runs Alea, a casual Ningbo-inspired bistro located on the ground floor of Fabula.

There was a touching moment during the award ceremony as Zee Zheng was embraced by his former Taian Table colleagues: chef-founder Stefan Stiller and executive chef Christiaan Stoop.

Vivant by Johnny Pham — French-Asian

Also new to the one-star list is Vivant by Johnny Pham, a fine dining restaurant that fuses French flavors with Asian influences drawn from Chef Johnny’s Vietnamese-French heritage.

Huaiyang Delights

Finally, Huaiyang Delights (三月醉淮扬) in Jing’an — a rather affordable Huaiyang restaurant with an average listed check of ¥320 per person according to Dianping — also received one star.

Restaurants that lost their stars include Phenix (The Puli Hotel & Spa), as the concept is shifting toward a more casual, less fine dining approach — a direction led by new consulting chef Olivier Elzer.

Yongfoo Elite (雍福会) also lost its star and is now listed as a Michelin Selected restaurant. EHB, formerly one-star, closed in Q3 last year, and was also removed.

Special Awards

The Service Award was presented to Beryl Guo Hongli from Bao Li Xuan, Bvlgari Shanghai. The Young Chef Award went to Abby Chen Na from Trine, Shanghai. The Sommelier Award was given to Mario Wang from Meng Du Hui (梦都会) in Nanjing.

Chef Yu Bin at Purple Laurel in Bangkok

The new Mentor Chef Award was presented to Chef Yu Bin (俞斌) from newly awarded two-star restaurant Jie Xiang Lou (解香楼) in Hangzhou, a celebrated chef known for his mastery of Jiangnan cuisine who recently expanded his empire to Bangkok.

Finally, the Green Star Award was given to Pu Zhu (朴竺) in Hangzhou, in recognition of their sustainable practices.
